Remotely Access Point of Success For No Additional Cost
June 6, 2005

Many restaurant owners and managers ask for the ability to remotely access their Point of Success system. Remote access gives you all the information and control you would have if you were sitting in front of a computer at the restaurant.

Many businesses and individuals use remote access technology to get information they need when they aren't at their desk. Remote access is so popular that there are dozens of ways that have been developed to do it. Here are some of the ways this can be done:

  • Go To My PC is an Internet-based service that provides a secure connection to a remote computer using the Internet. www.gotomypc.com
  • pcAnywhere is software that permits remote access using modem or Internet connections.
  • Windows XP has the built-in ability to remotely access a computer. This ability is called RAS (Remote Access Server). Search Windows Help for RAS for more information.

These are just a few of the many options you can use to remotely access Point of Success. Competing restaurant POS software vendors typically charge an additional fee to permit remote access. If you are remotely controlling your office manager computer, there is no additional charge with Point of Success! An additional benefit of using Internet-based remote solutions is that Point of Success support technicians can connect directly to your computer to resolve support issues more quickly.

Point of Success Employee Security Cards Now Available
May 23, 2005

Point of Success employee security cards are now available for use in Point of Success version 2.02 and above. Employee cards are used to enter PIN codes for these tasks:

  • Manager overrides

Some or all of a restaurant's employees can be assigned an employee card. PIN codes can also be entered manually using the PIN code entry touch pad. Workstations where an employee card will be used must be equipped with a magnetic stripe reader.

Employee cards offer higher security because another employee cannot observe a PIN code being entered. Clip-on badge reels are also available to make employee card handling even more convenient.
