Whether you are adding a new workstation or replacing an existing workstation, the procedure is the same.  While the process is very simple and straightforward, it’s also possible to make a mistake by installing a full database server on the workstation. Follow the steps below to ensure a proper and smooth workstation installation:

  1. Connect the workstation computer to the existing network and confirm all computers appear in the network.   HINT:  Use Windows File Explorer>Network Icon to see all computers in the network.
  2. Download the Point of Success installation program from our website.  You will need to contact our support department to obtain the correct website address as we do not directly link to the download files page from our main website.
  3. Once the main program has been downloaded to the workstation, begin by clicking on the downloaded install program.   Note that within a very short time, you will see the client installation list from which you can choose the desired programs, such as Order Entry and Time Clock.  NOTE:  You may be asked to choose a network adapter several times during the installation process.  Choose an adapter with a valid IP address (not 0.0.0.0).
  4. Choose each desired program one by one. Be sure to wait for the green checkbox that will confirm installation of the desired software selection is complete
  5. Once all selections have installed, choose the EXIT button to exit the Client Software Installation list.

In the event you are asked to choose between a single computer installation or a network installation, STOP AND ABORT THE INSTALLATION because you are about to install another database server that may negatively impact the operation of the entire system.
Once the chosen software from the client software installation list has been installed, proceed within Order Entry to select options from Order Entry>Manager>Workstation Setup.

TIP:   The firewall on the database server computer as well as on the new workstation can interfere with a proper installation if ports 22007-22010 are blocked.

ALTERNATE METHOD:

  1. Connect the workstation computer to the existing network and confirm all computers appear in the network.   HINT:  Use Windows File Explorer>Network Icon to see all computers in the network.
  2. Share the Installables Folder located on the server at C:\Point of Success
  3. Back at the workstation, navigate through the network to the Installables folder on the server.
  4. Choose “Application Installer.exe”.  A Client Software Installation List will appear.
  5. Choose the items you would like to install from the list-Order Entry, Time Clock, etc.

NOTE:  This method not only allows installation of Point of Success to a networked workstation but it also verifies the integrity of the network.  You must have knowledge regarding file and folder sharing to use this method.  Google is a good source to learn how to share a file or folder.
