Online Order Product Matching

Please be sure product descriptions include the necessary information.

When the description of an online item varies significantly from the same item ordered locally, it’s important to look at the product code description and make sure it’s descriptive enough to work for both local and online orders.  Otherwise what you see and what is printed can be confusing.

When a local order is placed using a Super Button or Combo Button, the following items display for the ordered item:

  • Item Caption
  • Item Size
  • Product Description from the Product Entry Window.  (Office Manager>Products>Open any product to see the description.)

When an online order enters Point of Success, the order maps directly to the matched Product Description.  There is no button associated with the order so the Item Caption and Item Size components are omitted.

Take the case of an item with a Product Description of “Cheese Pizza“.  During a local order using a Super Button, a size is chosen and then the product is chosen resulting in “Specialty Large Cheese Pizza” as the displayed and printed description of the item ordered. (The Item Caption-specialty, The Size-large, The Product Description-cheese pizza)

The same online order mapping directly to the Product Description will show only “cheese pizza“.  The cook will not know the size of the Pizza, nor that it’s a specialty pizza.
